We have the fishing rights on a 3.5 acre mixed fishery farm reservoir in the village of Bradfield.

The reservoir is used for irrigation on the farm and the club does not have any control over the amount of water extracted.

Please note that membership fees for the 2020/2021 season are now due.
In these unprecedented times it is unfortunate that we have all been unable to fish the lake during lockdown, necessary, but obviously beyond our control.
Harwich Angling Club would like to offer senior and senior citizen members who have subscribed to the club in the season ending 2019/2020, a £5 discount for next season 2020/2021.
This discount is for renewals only and not applicable to new members. Junior under 19, under 12 and non fishing prices will stay the same as these are already discounted rates.
The prices have not changed for this year:
Senior £45 (£40 with discount)
Senior Citizen (65 years+) £35 (£30 with discount)
Junior Under 19 years -£15
Junior Under 12 years - £5
Non-fishing member £2
Night fishing £10
There will be no signing on nights this year due to the lockdown.
To renew please post me your membership card, payment and a self-addressed envelope (no stamp required for Harwich addresses). Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or cash.
All members are reminded to follow rules issued in our emails of the 11th & 19th May 2020. These rules are just below this notice.

Please note that the restriction on fishing consecutive days will be removed from the 1st June 2020.

Please feel free to give me a ring with any queries, Kind regards,
Richard Ruane

Harwich Angling Club Annual General Meeting for 2019/2020

In view of the current situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic your committee have no choice but to cancel the proposed 2019/2020 AGM. The current committee have agreed to continue running the club for another year and will make every effort to keep you informed of any changes in the situation.

In line with the increasing concerns about fish welfare Harwich Angling Club would like to highlight key aspects to improve the handling of your catch.

On Monday 15th June a Work Party at the lake made 2 new access points to the first 2 swims on the south bank to enable some of our less mobile members to fish more comfortabley during periods of low water levels. The committee would like to ask members to leave these 2 pegs available for the less mobile members.
The working party have started work on a third peg on the south bank, the 2 large slabs have been laid, but the steps still have to be made at the next work party. The committee are working to improve facilities at the lake, dispite the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday 4th March the Environment Agency delivered the first fish to help restock the lake. Approximately 800 small roach about 3 inches long, with a few larger ones and some small bream were put in the lake. We are talking to the EA about them supplying us with some tench, bream and crucian carp in the future.

Death of long standing member

Sadly we have to report the death of long standing member Paul Scott, his funeral will take place at 1.15pm on the 19th March at Weeley Crematorium.

A decision was taken at the AGM to extend the Youth Membership from 12 to 16 year olds to 12 up to 19 years of age.

A committee member stabbed his finger on a thorn during the November Work Party, it turned septic and needed medical attenion, the committee advise wearing gloves on working parties. If you cut yourself on a working party or while fishing you should wash the wound with clean water (best to keep a bottle in the car) and then cover the wound with a plaster (keep some in your tackle box). Then thoroughly clean it when you return home.
